loveismycommandment:
This is a word I felt on my heart today. I hope it blesses you.
Let your heart be fathered by God.
If you’re broken, there is wholeness.
If you’re tired, there is a home in His love.
You don’t need to strive and labor for favor or the approval of men. He speaks acceptance over you and washes away rejection. He speaks healing into your spirit, into your soul, and into your...
I am finally where I am supposed to be
I arrived in chicago. I am about to be immersed in the business of being a student friar. I am trying to recover from returning from Madrid after 28 hours of airplanes and airports, and two intense days of cleaning and packing. This is unreal being here, I don’t think it has fully set in yet.
Late have I loved you →
Happy feast day of St. Augustine. Since I am busy transitioning into my next big scheme in life, here is something to hold you over.
After 28 hours of airplanes and airports I have...
The hurricane on the east coast caused new york to evacuate … my connecting flight home from madrid was newark, across from nyc. We were worried the airport would shut down, so 1am, the night before we changed our flight to newark (which was at noon, and wasn’t cancelled), to frankfurt to houston. This would take us around the storm, but we had to leave for the airport at 3am. Since it...

Homily of Pope Benedict XVI for World Youth Day →
World Youth Day
We set out on Saturday to the site of Jornada Mundail de la Juventud 2011 (otherwise known as World Youth Day to us English speakers) in Quatros Vientos, the site of the ever popular Mass with the Pope. There was expected to be well over a Milllion in attendance, on a hot Madrid summer day.
Our group set out for Mostoles, with a Mass with Fr. Robert Prevost, OSA, Prior General of the Order....
World Youth Day has been crazy but it all worked...
I spent 30 mins writing a brief description of the past two days of World Youth Day. The wifi is awful as the weather so stay tuned. Its impossible to send anything more than a paragraph for now. This is the Pope’s Youth. Este es el Jovenes de Papa.
Oh my God, you have surpassed all my expectations.

We have reached Madrid
Our pilgrim crew left El Escorial, the Royal Palace / Basilica / Mausoleum / Augustinian Monastery. The boys called it Hogwarts. If you look it up on Google Earth youll understand why. We also connected with our friends from OMGC, LA, John Paul and Melanie. John Paul and I are friends forever but I deliberately ignore all his Facebook messages. Now in Madrid I have also reconnected with several...

fathershane:
Approximately 30 percent of the men ordained to the priesthood every year have participated in WYD.
Whoa. Source.
El Camino hijinks
The boys all walked the Camino of St James across northwest spain and faced several obstacles.
Busdriver: he was a drama queen with a bad sense of direction. Always saying “muy complicado” or “mucho estress.”
Bikers on the trail were fast and we had to dodge them.
Money: they swore they never had enough.
Gypsies: a few of the boys were awkwardly stroked by them.
Bocadillos:...
I have arrived
In Santiago de Compostela after hiking nearly 80 miles. I will be here for some respite for a day and to pray for you. Hopefully I will have a chance for some stories.

Romantic Comedies are Ruining your Relationships →
We as a society are so confused about how to create and maintain good relationships. The Hollywood machine makes everything worse by perpetrating the myths of the big “Aha”, and moments of redemption, transformation and resolution that rarely happen in real life.
Hollywood offers a counterfeit version of human interaction in which somebody clueless one day wakes up and for no apparent reason,...

En El Camino
We are halfway through our Santiago de Compostella pilgrimage. We are tired but excited. I will have more of a story later. Say a prayer for our group and my little toe. Its pretty bloody and disgusting but I will be able to walk most of it. Thanks

Leaving Barcelona
We are finishing our stay in Barcelona and I don’t know that we will have much internet for a few days. We did see Sagrada Familia, and I will say something more later just know it was awesome. Connectin on Facebook seems to suck here, but Twitter and Tumblr work great, assuming I can get internet. Shalom

In Barcelona
We were flying and in transit for nearly 20 hours. Then we arrived slightly tired for more sightseeing. Saw some cool local culture, the cathedral, markets, and some roman ruins. Then we finally got to sleep.
New day, we awoke, and some of our students joined us for Morning Prayer. We have a bunch of cool things I can tell you about later.
God is the absolute and ultimate source of all being; but this universal...
