Sammy Blaze “The Phoenix”
Sammy Blaze came out with this banger that seemed to come out of nowhere, The Phoenix, released on Phatmass and available digitally. Sammy Blaze was known for his previous release The Meaning of Life, which I previously reviewed. This is a follow up, and Sammy Blaze comes with the heat that made the first one a memorable showcase.
I saw Sammy Blaze live a few years ago, and he knew how to rock a show. The substance of this album is considerably livelier and works as an anthem to live show. As the title seems to indicate The Pheonix is a new burst of energy and life for Sammy Blaze.
For those who do not know, Phatmass initiated a Catholic Hip Hop Movement several years ago, and continues to this day. Last year saw the release of several other albums from Fr Pontifex and Paradox, which I recommend reading my reviews. Their albums are available for listening and download on the same site. Be sure to support Catholic Hip Hop Artists. Also, most of all, these tracks deserve a listen.
The Legend - Sammy Blaze intros the album with the horns and fire.
Getting Down to tha Truth - Blaze gets the Catholic lingo into a song, with an epic beat for a live energy show.
Boy Meets Girl - Sammy Blaze comes through from the heart with a story of love gone wrong. Most of all, this song, like the Phoenix is about redemption from disfigured relationships.
Mass Appeal - The Posse Cut, it’s the song where the crew gets down together. Point 5 Covenant comes down on this one, as Sammy Blaze connected with them in Texas. Yung PK comes through singing on the hook, and this guy got a voice.
Follow Me - Dy-Verse and C2six of Foundnation get down on this, as well as Paradox, an anthem for all of Christ’s disciples.
The Phoenix - title track for this selection, with an ill beat combination of guitar and chorale, and Sammy Blaze got the heat!
